Labs and Movement

pregnant

At my doctor's appointment last Thursday they took some more blood in order to test for Down's Syndrom and I got those lab results back today...all's well! All of my labs are normal! So great!

Also this week, McKenna has begun to make her presence known in her moving and kicking. I have been able to feel her atleast once a day, usually at night, and it is so great! I just wish that Mark was here to experience this with me but he will be back home soon and hopefully by the time he gets home she will be moving regularly and all. Even if he isn't able to feel her yet he will be here to experience it with me.

Well those are the big things this week! Labs and Movement!

We Do Love that Heartbeat!

pregnancy due date
Today was my doctors appointment and yes, Mark was able to be there for it too!! I am so glad! Not that there was anything going on but I love when he goes with me. Not to mention, he will probably wind up missing some appointments because of being underway so I want him to be there for all that he can be!
Everything was just fine. I gained 1lb since my visit last month, putting my total pregnancy weight up to 5lbs; and let me tell you, it's all baby and boobs! haha My labs were all normal, my blood pressure was perfect, and McKenna's heartbeat was perfect. It is such a relief to hear that heartbeat. It's not that I ever think that anything is wrong but there is always that little twinge of fear at every appointment; once that heartbeat is heard though that feeling of relief washes over you and it is amazing!
We go back in about 2.4 weeks for our next ultrasound...let's hope that they don't tell us that it is a boy cause we surely have a good stack of girl clothes...haha Ok, so Mark says differently...haha No, he is happy with a little girl. And you better believe that although he he rolles his eyes and gives that look of "yeah right" she will have him wrapped around her finger. Just wait and see.
I hope that everyone's week is going well!

Carrier...Start Your Engines!

I have been meaning to post for a couple days now but I had so much homework last week it was not even funny! LOTS of reading! This week should be a little better....well maybe not, the discussion this week is going to be pretty YUCK!
The shipyard time is over now and the ship is ready for sea trials! It has been a bumpy road getting started up and such but they are up and running now and ready to go. They will be in and out and it will be crazy like that until about December but as always we'll get through it! Atleast when he is home he will only have duty every 6 days and not 3 section liberty (meaning 3 days of duty and one day off).
So how about the other night Mark and I went out to dinner with some friends and we went to P.F. Changs in Virginia Beach. In Va. Beach they have a free public parking garage (yay!) so we parked in there and then went to dinner and after dinner Mark and I went and caught a comedy show at Funny Bones; after the show we went to Coldstone and got ice cream...YUM! So after all that we decided it was time to go home so we go back to the parking garage and take the elevators up 2 levels, just as we did coming down, step off the elevator and make a right, doing just as we did getting to the elevators, go to where our truck is parked and....IT'S NOT THERE! So we are like "Uh...hmm...maybe we got towed." Not sure why we would have been towed butt our truck was SO not there. So we walked around to see if by chance we were on the wrong end..NOPE. Definitely not. So by this time we are both a little worried cause we are screwed! We decide to walk back to the elevators and walk around that way, not sure why because it is NOT the way that we came, so we walk around the garage and get to the other side of the elevators and low and behold there is the truck! I have played that over and over in my mind and I cannot figure out how that happened. I mean I seriously got on the same elevators, went up the same amount of levels, walked the same way....IT BAFFLES ME!!! I don't get it! It was scary. I was just thinking "What a great way to end a wonderful day....getting towed!" Instead we wound up in the Twilight Zone or something...lol So weird...

pregnancy due date

As far as McKenna goes, everything is going quite well! I have a doctors appointment on Thursday but it is just a general appointment, I should be able to hear her heartbeat and that is always fun! So things are going well. I have felt her really move twice; once she kicked me a couple times and the other time she turned or rolled...that one was interesting! Not that they weren't both interesting but I felt her roll across my stomach...haha When she kicked me it was like someone thumping me from the inside...very cool! Mark and I were hoping that she would start making her presence known by moving before he left for this underway. Not that he would be able to feel it but that he would be here for it. It's just not the same getting an email saying "Guess what??" and trying to describe the feeling and the excitement rather than actually being there when it happens. She made herself known twice before he left so that was exciting and we were happy with that...maybe she is just waiting until he gets home to do her happy dance. haha
That is about all that is going on here so far! If anything else goes on in mine and Mark's lives you better believe I will update!
Ciao!

Another Week

Not too much going on. Mark had to work this weekend and has tomorrow off, YAY! We don't have any big plans or anything, I have to take a midterm but other than that nothing really. We don't usually make plans on his days off...we just kind of go with the flow!
I went to church this morning, it was a good service. We actually sang HYMNS as opposed to all worship choruses. I was quite excited!
After I got home I fixed some spaghetti and meatballs and then attempted to take my midterm. I was not able to because the server kept kicking me off. I got in contact with my professor and she was having the same problems so I am hoping that she will reset the exam for me. Surely so. Especially since I emailed her as soon as it all happened.

My pregnancy is going well. Prettymuch the same. Nothing new going on in that. I took some new pictures today. Enjoy!
Well that's about all that's going on right now!
Ciao!

An Exciting Day!

So today was the big day! Mark and I had our ultrasound today to find out the gender and we are happy to announce that we are having a girl! She is right on schedule, 16 weeks 4 days, and the due date has stayed the same, December 20, 2008. We were able to get the 3D ultrasound but as was expected she looked a little scary. haha Seeing her move and kick was great. We were also able to see her stomach which was full so she has been drinking/"eating" and her heart was just beating away! It was a great day and I can't wait until my next ultrasound, which will be in about 4 weeks, and see how she is growing.
We have prettymuch decided on a name for her, McKenna Elizabeth. What we are still iffy on is the spelling, McKenna or MacKenna; however, we are leaning more towards McKenna.
Although Mark wanted a boy, he is happy...and when she gets here and he holds her he will be even happier. He says he won't be wrapped around her little finger but we'll see how that goes. haha
Enjoy the pics!

Say "Hello" to McKenna Elizabeth Harris

This one is one of my favorites!

She was being a little shy

It took us a few minutes to make sure that she wasn't hiding anything.

The money shot! She's a girl!

She was moving and kicking

You can see her little elbow and knee in this one

The 3D: You can kind of see her profile in this one

Here she is! She looks a little scary in this one...haha

The 4th of July

The 4th of July...what do you think of? I think of BBQ's, homemade ice cream, fireworks, family, friends, and more importantly I think about the freedom that I have because of those like my husband who risk their lives day in and day out for me. Many people do not support these men and women who put their lives on the line every day and to them I say...if you can't stand behind them, stand in front of them!! I am so very proud of my husband and what he does for his Country. The military is not just for anyone but should be supported by everyone; after all, they fight so you don't have to; and for some they fight so you can whine.
On another note, this 4th of July for me is not going to be a big one. It will be just another day. Mark is still on that crazy busy schedule and will be at work that day. I am hoping that just by going outside and sitting in the bed of the truck I will be able to see some fireworks but if not than I will just watch them on TV I suppose.
To those of you with all of your plans, be safe, have a great time, and remember those men and women who are away seeing a very different kind of fireworks.
